Meet Peter Storandt
Peter Storandt worked in higher education from 1969 to 2011 before retiring to El Dorado with his wife Judie to be near three young granddaughters and their parents. Little did he know that purchasing a one-of-a-kind property in the historic center would lead to a decade-plus of community involvement and a deeper understanding of the native landscape in which we are situated.
Who knew that retirement could be so stretching and fulfilling?
Now in its fourth year, the Prairie Artscape that Peter and Judie are working on has become their primary outlet for sharing with others the richness and variety of our surrounding Flint Hills.
The Artscape includes original rock and metal sculptures, benches, bridges, and pathways that take a visitor through maturing clusters of dozens of wildflowers and grasses that thrive in our native ecosystem.
Peter is married to Judie Storandt. Their blended families include six adult children, ten grandchildren, and one great grandson. They attend St. James Episcopal Church in Wichita.
